Numbi Valley Permaculture Farm, De Rust
The Most Beautiful Place to Stay in the Klein Karoo
Experience our permaculture farm in the Klein Karoo
Numbi Valley farm is a wonderful example of off-grid, sustainable living. We practice permaculture on the farm and have lived entirely off-grid since 2004. We are passionate about regenerative agriculture, sustainable living and creating abundant eco systems for all to thrive.
Come enjoy the cozy clean guest cottage which has views across the Olifants river valley and towards the Swartberg mountain range. There is only one private guest cottage on the farm, allowing for a romantic and peaceful getaway. It has its own fresh water natural plunge pool, outdoor fire pit and pizza oven. We offer yoga, farm tours, fresh produce, excellent trigger-point massage, delicious pizza and other meals. There are wonderful walks in the succulent Klein Karoo surrounding the farm, mountain biking on country roads, horse riding for all levels of experience, star gazing and lots more to do in the area. We encourage a daytrip to explore the dramatic Swartberg pass, stop in Prince Albert for lunch, and a drive back through Meiringspoort to visit the Meiringspoort waterfall. Our minimum stay is 2 nights, but you might find you will want to stay for much longer.
We look forward to welcoming you to our farm, be it for a stay in the cottage, a permaculture tour, for a yoga class or massage.

Chester Garrett (SeaZol)2023-09-24Peaceful, like the moment between breaths, a pause between sips, or the quiet the mind craves after a busy day...this place holds it in its stillness that soothes like I've never experienced before. A gem of an oasis in the dessert. Compounded with an abundant rich garden of greens in shades and variety, supported with fruit trees to sustain. All of this woven together with the natural elements in easy comfortable styled stay offering a simpler life that reminds us of our innate wealth and rejuvenates our sense of richness. The flowers that filled the rugged shrub landscape, the natural pool that refreshed the being in the warmth of the arid sun...it's a version of paradise and one that needs experiencing!Celia Du Preez2023-09-21Numbi Valley is a gem! Springtime flowers were spectacular. Loved the natural swimming pool. And the fire bath under the stars. Also had an amazing massage from Kathryn. Hosts are kind, gentle and considerate. Houses done with love, care, beauty, and attention to detail. Veggies were divine. Wonderful to be in a place where the people are kind to the earth and creatures, and life sings its appreciation and celebration. Thank you ❤️Madelain Appelman2023-09-01It is mindblowing to see what Kath and Ross have achieved since they bought the farm. The most beautiful and tranquil farm. Where respect is shown to mother earth and the carbon footprint reduced to almost zero. Nothing gets wasted. Whatever is wasted goes back to nature. I have so much respect for the owners of Numbi Valley. You are such an inspiration to me. Thank you for sharing your knowledge about permaculture with me.
